Halloween Finds for People Who Take Spooky Season Way Too Seriously š
There are people who casually enjoy Halloween.
They buy a pumpkin, put a bowl of candy by the door, maybe watch a scary movie sometime in October, and call it spooky season.
We are not those people. š
In this house, Halloween is not a day. It's a personality trait.
And if you ask my youngest daughter Makenah, Halloween might as well be a federally recognized season. It's her favorite holiday, and I'm pretty sure she'd happily live surrounded by ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins, and creepy little creatures year-round if nobody stopped her.
Which, to be fair, I'm not exactly the person who's going to stop her.
Because there's something about spooky season that makes regular life feel a little more fun. Suddenly buying a blanket covered in bats seems completely reasonable. Skeletons crawling out of your front yard are considered landscaping. Floating candles hanging from the ceiling? Obviously necessary.
And candy shaped like tiny ghosts?
Don't touch those. Those are mine.
So instead of throwing together one of those enormous lists of 47 Halloween products nobody actually wants, I went looking for things I would genuinely buy, use, or send to a friend with the message:
āLOOK AT THIS š.ā
These are the ones that made the cut.

š First, We Need to Scare the Neighbors
There is a very specific level of Halloween decorating where your yard stops saying, āHappy HalloweenāĀ and starts saying:
āSomething unfortunate happened here.ā
That's the level we're aiming for. š

The Skeleton Trying to Escape Your Yard
Those skeleton stakes immediately made the list because apparently putting a normal skeleton in the yard wasn't dramatic enough.
No.
Ours needs to look like he's actively crawling out of the ground.
I love decorations like this because you don't need an elaborate $700 haunted-house setup to make your yard fun. Stick a creepy little skeleton situation in the grass and suddenly the entire yard understands the assignment.
Tera rating:Ā Completely unnecessary. Absolutely appropriate.

šÆļø Okay, But Can We Make It Witchy?
The floating flameless candles were one of those finds where I immediately thought:
Yep. Makenah would approve. š
They're giving haunted mansion. They're giving wizard school. They're giving āsomething magical or deeply concerning is happening in the dining room.ā
And because they're flameless, we get the creepy candle atmosphere without me accidentally turning spooky season into an insurance claim.
That's what I call responsible Halloween decorating. š

š» Not Everything Has to Be Terrifying
Then there's this giant light-up ghost.
Look at him.
He's not haunting anybody.
He's doing his best. š
I love that Halloween doesn't have to be blood, gore and nightmare fuel. Sometimes I just want a giant glowing ghost in the yard who looks mildly surprised to have been invited.
And this one is adorable enough that I'd happily let him supervise the front yard all October.

š¦ Now We're Going Inside Because I'm Cold
Eventually you've admired your creepy yard long enough and it's time to go back inside, put on comfortable clothes and continue participating in Halloween from the couch.
Enter:
the bat blanket.
A soft blanket covered in bats is exactly the kind of purchase nobody technically needsĀ and yet somehow makes perfect sense from September through approximately November 1st.
Movie night? Bat blanket.
Reading? Bat blanket.
Ignoring responsibilities while drinking reheated coffee?
BAT. BLANKET.
I don't make the rules.

šøļø The Cheapest Way to Make Your Fireplace Look Haunted
I also found the black spiderweb lace decoration, and this is exactly the kind of Halloween find I love.
It's simple.
It's inexpensive.
And you can throw it across a mantel or another surface and suddenly it looks like you made significantly more effort than you actually did.
That is the Beautifully Overwhelmed decorating philosophy. š
Maximum spooky.
Minimum emotional labor.

š Your Front Door Deserves a Costume Too
Then we have the Halloween wreath.
Black, orange, purple, pumpkins, creepy little facesāthe whole spooky-season committee showed up.
This is for those of us who want the front door to announce:
āYes, Halloween people live here.ā
before anyone even knocks.
Hang it up and boom.
You decorated.
I'm proud of us.

š» The āHey Booā Towel
This one got me because it is ridiculously cute.
Little white ghosts.
Black background.
Hey Boo.
That's it. That's the sales pitch. š
It's the kind of decoration you can toss into the kitchen or bathroom without redecorating the entire room. Hang up one towel and suddenly you've participated in spooky season.
Again:
maximum Halloween, minimum effort.
We're noticing a theme here.

š¬ Now Let's Discuss the Important Part: Candy
I could pretend this section is primarily about preparing for trick-or-treaters.
It isn't.
Because I found Twizzlers Ghosts.
And I love them.
Therefore, I am recommending them to you while simultaneously asking everyone in my own house to stay out of my bag. š
They're cherry-flavored little ghost-shaped Twizzlers, and apparently thousands of other people also understand that candy tastes approximately 34% better when somebody makes it Halloween-shaped.
That's science.
Probably.

For the candy we are actually willing to distribute to other humans, the individual Nerds Gummy Cluster treat packs are a great option.
They're already portioned, easy to toss into trick-or-treat bags, andāmost importantlyārequire no complicated Halloween preparation.
Because nobody needs to be individually assembling candy bags at 10 PM on October 30th wondering where their life went wrong.

š For the Halloween Get-Together
And finally:
the skull decanter set.
Do you need skull glasses to host a Halloween party?
No.
Would pouring cider, mocktails, punch, or whatever mysterious potion you've created into skull glasses make the evening considerably more entertaining?
Obviously.
This is the kind of thing I'd put on a Halloween drink station for a party, spooky girls' night, movie marathon, or family get-together purely because normal glasses apparently become unacceptable once October arrives.

š Halloween Finds for Spooky Season Don't Need to Be Complicated
That's probably my favorite thing about these Halloween finds for spooky seasonāthey don't have to be complicated.
You don't have to transform your entire house.
You don't need the Pinterest-perfect front porch.
You don't need $1,000 worth of decorations sitting in twelve labeled storage totes in your garage.
Although if that's your thing, Makenah would probably like your address. š
Sometimes spooky season is a skeleton sticking out of the grass.
Sometimes it's floating candles.
Sometimes it's watching Halloween movies underneath a blanket covered in bats.
And sometimes it's hiding your favorite ghost-shaped Twizzlers, so your family doesn't eat them.
It's about making ordinary life a little more fun.
And regular life is serious enough already.
So hang the ghosts.
Put skeletons in the yard.
Buy the ridiculous Halloween thing that makes you smile.
And if anybody thinks you're taking spooky season too seriously?
They're probably not our people anyway. š»š
šø One More Thing
I'll keep adding things I genuinely like to my Stuff That Makes Life EasierĀ page too, so you don't have to hunt through old blog posts trying to remember where I mentioned something.
No giant list of random crap.
Just things I actually use, like, want, or would happily send to a friend with seventeen exclamation points.
Because if we're going to be beautifully overwhelmed anyway...
we might as well decorate for it. šš
