I Didn’t Fix My Life Today — And That’s Kind of the Point
Today wasn’t life changing.
There was no breakthrough.
No dramatic moment where the clouds parted, the universe whispered my purpose, and suddenly I knew exactly what the hell I was doing.
Honestly, I’m pretty sure I reheated my coffee more times than I accomplished anything meaningful.
And weirdly?
It was a good day.
Not an Instagram-good day. Not a “look how productive I was” day.
Just a regular, slightly messy, very human day.
I did some things.
Ignored some other things.
Thought about doing several things and apparently decided thinking about them deserved partial credit.
I drank coffee.
I scrolled longer than I should have.
I looked around at things that needed done and mentally whispered, absolutely not.
And somewhere between all of that, I realized something.
Maybe every day doesn’t need to become something.

I Am Always Trying to Fix Something
When I’m feeling overwhelmed with life, I think I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time believing the answer is to start fixing everything.
My house.
My finances.
My body.
My relationships.
My career.
My habits.
My attitude.
My future.
Me.
There is always another version of myself waiting somewhere in my head.
She wakes up early.
Her laundry is folded immediately.
She remembers what she walked into rooms for.
She probably drinks enough water.
Honestly, she sounds exhausting.
Meanwhile, actual me is standing in the kitchen holding a coffee I forgot I made, wondering why I opened the refrigerator.
And maybe actual me deserves a little credit too.
Today, I Wasn’t a Project
Because today, I existed without turning myself into one.
I laughed.
I thought about things I want to create.
I had ideas that may turn into something and other ideas that will probably disappear into the mysterious black hole where approximately 73% of my thoughts live.
I handled what I could.
I left some things for tomorrow.
And the world kept spinning.
Imagine that.
There was no checklist determining whether I was allowed to feel good about myself at the end of the day.
There was no finish line I had to cross first.
I was just…
me.
Existing.
And for once, maybe that was enough.

Maybe This Counts Too
We celebrate the obvious stuff.
New jobs.
Weight loss.
Clean houses.
Big announcements.
Finished projects.
The moments that look good in a picture.
But nobody really talks about the completely ordinary days where nothing spectacular happens and somehow, you still make it through carrying everything nobody else can see.
Maybe those days count too.
Maybe sitting quietly with your coffee counts.
Maybe laughing when you’ve had a rough week counts.
Maybe choosing not to argue counts.
Maybe resting before you’re completely burned-out counts.
Maybe getting one thing done when your brain had seventeen tabs open counts.
Maybe simply thinking, I’m okay right here for a minute, is its own tiny accomplishment.
I Don’t Want to Spend My Life Waiting for Her
Because I don’t want my entire life to become a waiting room for the version of me who finally has everything together.
I’ve spent enough time thinking:
I’ll be happier when…
When the house is done.
When there’s more money.
When I lose weight.
When life settles down.
When I’m successful.
When everyone else is okay.
When I’m okay.
But there’s always another when.
So, I want this version of me too.
The one with unfinished plans.
The one who changes her mind.
The one who gets excited about something at midnight and suddenly decides she’s about to build an entire empire before breakfast.
The one who occasionally has her shit together and would appreciate everyone remaining very quiet, so they don’t scare it away.
Her.
I want her life too.
Not someday.
Now.

Feeling Overwhelmed With Life Doesn’t Mean Today Didn’t Count
I didn’t completely reinvent myself.
I didn’t solve every problem.
I didn’t magically figure out what the next five years are supposed to look like.
There are still things waiting for me tomorrow.
There always will be.
But tonight, I’m sitting here realizing that maybe a life isn’t only built in the huge moments.
Maybe it’s built here too.
In reheated coffee.
Half-finished ideas.
Random laughter.
Quiet rooms.
Tiny decisions.
Ordinary days.
And people doing the best they can while pretending they totally remember why they walked into the kitchen.
So no, I didn’t fix my life today.
I just lived it.
And maybe that’s kind of the point.
A Beautifully Overwhelmed Note 💗
You don’t have to earn the right to enjoy your life by finally getting everything together.
You are allowed to love the ordinary parts too—the quiet nights, the reheated coffee, the unfinished plans, and the moments nobody takes pictures of.
There will always be something else to fix, finish, clean, figure out, pay for, worry about, or become.
Don’t let that convince you that your real life hasn’t started yet.
This is it.
Messy.
Unfinished.
Sometimes ridiculous.
Sometimes beautiful.
Usually, some combination of all four.
And still completely worth being here for.
So, if today wasn’t productive…
If you didn’t check everything off the list…
If you didn’t become a better version of yourself…
If all you really did was live an ordinary day—
that day still counted.
Until next time,
stay beautifully, wonderfully, imperfectly overwhelmed. 💗
